How it works

You can reach a helper at your base in a few minutes. Here is what happens at each step and what stays on your phone.

  1. Choose your base

The app shows the helpers, resources and emergency numbers for that base. You can change it later.

  2. Answer a short check-in

Pick what is on your mind and how you are doing. Your answers stay on your phone. Our server only learns your base, the type of helper you asked for and how urgent it is.

If you might be in danger, the app shows crisis lines and emergency numbers right away, before any wait.

  3. Pick who you want to talk to

Choose a chaplain, a Military and Family Life Counselor, a licensed counselor or a peer supporter. Before your first message you read what that helper can keep private and what they must report.

Read the privacy rules for each helper

  4. Tell us who you are, safely

You enter your name, rank, unit and phone number. Your phone locks them with a key only it has, then sends the locked box. We store it, but we cannot open it. Helpers see a made-up name unless you choose to share.

To confirm you serve, you enter your .mil email address and type the code we send. We do not save your email address.

  5. Talk

Send messages and voice notes, or make a voice call. Everything is encrypted between your phone and your helper's phone. Our server passes it along and deletes each message once the other phone has it.

  6. Keep going at your pace

Keep the same helper, plan your next session, or switch helpers at any time without saying why. Each conversation has a time limit for keeping messages on both phones, and you can make it shorter.
